In the context of the search for the lost submarine Titan, which went to the wreck of the Titanic with five people on board, the American media brought information that the wife of the head of the company OceanGate, which organizes these cruises, has among her ancestors great-great-grandparents who died in 1912 in the sinking of the seemingly unsinkable ship.

Also aboard the Titan submarine that disappeared on Sunday on a cruise to the Titanic wreck is Stockton Rush, the chief executive of OceanGate, which brokers the dives for a hefty price to wealthy customers. His wife is Wendy Rush, who works for the company as a communications director and has herself visited the Titanic wreck three times in the past two years.

Her interest in the Titanic, however, is not only due to the fact that her husband can take her there almost any time, but is mainly due to the fact that her great-great-grandparents, Isidor and Ida Straus, who were very prominent New Yorkers at the time, died in its sinking. In a way, the expeditions to the sunken ship are the equivalent of what the Titanic itself represented at the beginning of the last century. It was a great attraction, one of the greatest achievements of the time, which only the richest could afford. And that included Isidor and Ida Straus, a wealthy New York couple originally from Germany.
