Eighty-eight-year-old Gamer Grandpa: Legendary hero of the virtual world and Guinness World Record holder!
Eighty-eight-year-old Jang Ping-lin, known as Gamer Grandpa, from China’s Sichuan province, has been awarded for becoming the oldest game content creator on the Bilibili platform, earning him an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. In addition to his gaming activities, he is also a table tennis player. Jang, once worked in research and engineering in the oil and gas industry, but since his retirement in 1996, he has focused on his two main hobbies – table tennis and video games.
Four years ago, he started filming his gaming experiences and sharing them on the Bilibili platform. His passion quickly led him to become a beloved personality in the gaming community, where he is followed by more than 280,000 people. He has completed many games over the years, including well-known titles such as Tomb Raider and Call of Duty, and carefully notes down the gameplay strategies for each game.
Jang values the goodwill of his young fans and enjoys interacting with them. However, he stresses the importance of balance between the virtual and real worlds. His daily routine includes table tennis in the morning, shopping in the morning, and a three-hour gaming session in the afternoon, and he goes to bed at 9:30 every night.
He considers the Guinness Book of World Records entry a great honor and plans to continue to contribute his gaming videos to the community, especially younger players.
