Apple fixes iOS bug that changed the word “racist” to “Trump” – while investing $500 billion in the US

Apple is about to fix a bug in its iOS operating system that caused iPhones to automatically replace the word “racist” with “Trump” when dictating text. The problem quickly spread on social media, particularly on TikTok, where users shared videos showing their phones unexpectedly editing dictated text.

According to Apple, the confusion was caused by the phonetic similarity of the two words, mainly due to the same initial letter “R”. In response to the problem, the company announced that it is working on a fix. “We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that affects message dictation and are preparing an update to address it,” an Apple spokesperson said.

The situation has sparked strong reactions, especially among conservative commentators in the US. They say it is further evidence of the tech giants’ political bias against the right. According to the Guardian, some conservative analysts have accused Apple of manipulating and deliberately influencing public discourse, arguing that such mistakes always play into the hands of the left.

Apple’s big investment in the US: $500 billion and a new factory in Texas

While the controversy over the dictation error has not yet died down, Apple has announced a massive investment of $500 billion (approximately 11.9 trillion crowns) in the US market. Part of this plan includes the construction of a giant artificial intelligence (AI) server factory in Texas, which is expected to create approximately 20,000 new jobs across the United States.

The move is seen by many as a strategic gesture towards the US government, especially in the context of potential trade barriers. Apple faces the risk of new tariffs on products made in China, which could have a major impact on its profitability. The Texas factory may be a way to secure better relations with government officials and strengthen its position in the US market.

According to reports, Apple CEO Tim Cook met with Donald Trump just days before the investment plan was announced. Media speculate that one of the main topics of the meeting was the possibility of obtaining tariff exemptions for Apple products imported from China.

What does this situation mean for Apple users?

While the dictation error was a rather amusing curiosity for some users, for others it has become a symbol of technological bias. However, Apple responded relatively quickly and promised to issue a fix, indicating that it is aware of the sensitivity of such issues. On the other hand, Apple’s investment plan shows that the company is trying to consolidate its position in the US, not only in manufacturing but also in the development of artificial intelligence technologies. The factory in Texas will play a key role in expanding Apple’s cloud and AI services, which may bring new innovations to mainstream users as well. Apple has been at the centre of political and economic controversy in recent days. On the one hand, it is facing criticism over a bizarre bug in iOS, while on the other it is trying to strengthen its position in its home market with a huge investment. Only time will tell how these events will unfold.
