Chinese influencer as robot shocked her native village

A female influencer who styles herself as a robot has become a sensation on the Chinese social network Douyin. It’s not just the clothes – her image is also completed by her typical mechanical movements and immobile expression. She didn’t break her role during a visit to her native village, however, where she unexpectedly showed her human side. This happened when one of the local women offered her her son as a husband.

The 30-year-old influencer known as Dalaotian caught national attention when she posted a video of the visit. Her looks and movements are so convincing that many people hesitate when they meet her to see if she is really human. This impression is reinforced by her light blue contact lenses, striking make-up and her height of 180cm, which is unusual in China – she looks even more imposing in costume and heels.

In addition, Dalaotian has undergone several cosmetic and surgical procedures, including facial and breast enhancements, which together cost her around one million yuan (more than 3.3 million crowns).

When she returned to her home village during the Spring Festival, associated with the Chinese New Year, she caused a great stir. The locals touched her to see if she was really human or just a perfectly crafted machine. However, the fact that she was “real” only dawned on them when she broke into laughter – this was after one of the women brought her son to her and tried to persuade her to marry him.

According to the South China Morning Post, this is not unusual – tradition dictates that single individuals must face questions about their relationship status, work and earnings during holiday gatherings with family and friends.

While older generations consider these questions to be a normal part of social convention, many young people see them as bothersome and inappropriate. Therefore, some choose to avoid visiting their home village during the Spring Festival altogether.

Dalaotiana’s story has sparked debates on the internet on this very topic. One user wryly remarked: “I can’t believe that questions about marriage and work no longer escape even a robot.” It seems that even a cool robotic image is not enough to escape traditional societal expectations.
