Elon Musk challenged Mark Zuckerberg to a cage fight, he agreed
Two of the world’s most prominent tech billionaires, Twitter chief Elon Musk and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, have agreed to a cage match. Their communication has quickly spread across the internet and social network users are now debating who will win. Musk came up with the challenge when he tweeted that he was “ready for a cage match” with Zuckerberg.
The boss of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, then posted a screenshot of Musk’s tweet, saying: “Send me the address”. “Octagon in Vegas,” Musk responded.
The reference is to the now increasingly popular so-called mixed martial arts matches. A number of different organisations operate in this field, the largest of which is the UFC, which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Fights under its rules take place in a cage with an octagon floor plan – the octagon. Musk, who will celebrate his 52nd birthday at the end of June, warned his opponent: “I have a great move I call the Walrus, where I just put my opponent down and do nothing,” he wrote, attaching a video of the walrus rolling on his back on the shore. “I almost never exercise except to pick up my kids and throw them in the air,” he added.
Thirty-nine-year-old Zuckerberg has long trained in mixed martial arts MMA and has won amateur tournaments in the Brazilian combat sport of jiu-jitsu.
A spokesperson for Meta told the BBC news website on the subject that “the story speaks for itself”. Twitter did not respond to a request for comment.
Meanwhile, a debate raged on social media over which billionaire would win. And various photo montages of posters promoting the announced fight also appeared.
