SolidSun expelled from professional association: controversy in the world of solar energy
The professional association has informed its members via a newsletter about the expulsion of SolidSun. This information was also spread on social networks and the editorial staff of Obnovitelna.cz confirmed it through several people familiar with the situation. Neither the Guild of Accumulation and Photovoltaics (CAFT) nor the expelled SolidSun have commented on the events. Company spokeswoman Vladimíra Exnerová said the company plans to issue a statement in the coming days.
The reason for SolidSun’s expulsion was allegedly a serious violation of CAFT’s statutes and code of ethics. The association said in a newsletter, “Professionally unethical conduct has seriously damaged CAFT’s mission, interests and reputation. As this was a long-standing and prominent member of the Guild, we feel it appropriate to inform you of this fact.”
CAFT has not yet explained what exactly led to SolidSun’s expulsion. However, the organization warned in January about unethical professional behavior by some of the companies it represents. According to information from the solar sector, this may have involved the misuse of non-public information about a possible change in the terms of subsidies for domestic photovoltaics.
CAFT issued the warning due to fears of damage to the reputation of the association and the sector as a whole. Although CAFT has not yet specified whether other companies will be excluded, it has explained that the actions of the companies concerned are unacceptable.
SolidSun has been in business for approximately 11 years and has completed more than 10,000 installations. It specialises mainly in small rooftop PV systems for homes and larger installations of over 50 kilowatts for businesses.
